Decoding millimetre-wave spectra of 2-iminopropanenitrile, a candidate for astronomical observations

Aims. The recent detection of cyanomethanimine in the interstellar medium makes its methyl derivative, 2-iminopropanenitrile (CH 3 C(CN)NH), a promising candidate for an detection. aim this work is to extend current knowledge laboratory rotational spectrum higher frequencies, which essential prerequisite identification molecular species by millimetre-wave astronomy. Methods. room-temperature has been measured several frequency regions between 128 and 329 GHz. A–E splittings transitions arising from top internal rotation were analysed employing ERHAM XIAM programs. Results. A dataset approximately 900 newly assigned ground state Z isomer set refined constants, including parameters, are reported. Moreover, provides first spectral characterisation less stable E state, as well three lowest-lying vibrationally excited states isomer, v 21 = 1, 14 20 1. This comprehensive spectroscopic study will allow search surveys sources, such those recorded Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array.
